Senior HR Advisor

Our client, based in Leicestershire, is currently recruiting for a Senior HR Advisor on a fixed-term contract for 12 months.

The position is due to start ASAP on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week) paying a salary of c£29,000-c£32,000pa on experience.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience in the sector, however this requirement can be flexible.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • To oversee day to day workload for the team, working with the HR Advisor to carry out the tasks and ensure service delivery
  • To provide first line advice and support to staff and managers on all general HR matters and employment law and policy
  • To prepare confidential case files in preparation of employee related hearings and attending as and when necessary, at hearings to provide advice
  • To be responsible for ensuring the People HR system is updated at all times; using it to produce reports for statistical purpose to guide workforce planning; being the first point of contact for any system queries on the employee’s HR systems; providing guidance and training to employees and Managers if and when required
  • To support the HR Advisor with payroll input, amendments and enquiries when needed
  • To answer customer/staff enquiries in a timely fashion, including responding to freedom of information requests and any other information as required including any audits
  • To ensure all administration is carried out in a timely and efficient manner to ensure a smooth running of the department, to include annual leave calculations and queries
  • To support managers in proactively managing short- and long-term sickness absence as necessary; to liaise with occupational health and to retain confidential information
  • Working with our external providers to plan, direct and deliver training and development programmes including staff induction to accomplish the company objectives, to take a lead in updating E learning material, keeping training records updated and coordinating learning and development activities
  • To take a lead role with recruitment, managing end to end processes for vacancies when required, collaborate with managers on recruitment processes to attract high quality staff which enhances the business’ talent base; deliver an engaging and comprehensive on-boarding experience for staff
  • To develop and maintain positive employee relations through negotiation and consultation with Trade Unions
  • To give support with restructures and redundancies

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Currently holds or is working towards a CIPD qualification
  • Minimum of two years HR experience ideally within a local government environment

Rewards and Benefits:

  • 24 days annual leave

Working hours:

  • 5 hours per week, 2/3 days p.w. home working
  • Flexible hours available throughout the week from 7am-6pm
