We are currently working in partnership with a Combined Authority, who are looking to appoint a Senior Commercial Solicitor on an initial 3-month locum basis, which is highly likely to be extended.

This will be a full-time position based fully remote, and the day rate on offer is negotiable based on PQE.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor or CILEX with significant post qualification experience.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Handling a mixed caseload of major projects work, to include transport and funding agreements
• Operating as the principal project or programme legal advisor/legal business partner providing holistic advice across the full range of legal, statutory and due diligence issues, procuring, and managing specialist external legal resource where required
• Providing expert guidance and support on internal and external governance controls, consultation, engagement and decision-making requirements and processes, delegated powers, due diligence, and contract/document completion processes
• Advising and assisting on procurement law and procedure to deliver safe, compliant, and timely procurements
• Drafting and negotiating complex legal agreements, being comfortable with industry standard contracts and bespoke drafting
• Providing legal and strategic advice to the Authority in dealing with information requests, complaints or other challenges and in dealing with priority correspondence

Experience required:

• Experience required within the public sector
• Must be a qualified solicitor/CILEX

Working hours:

• 37 hours per week
• Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
