Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a skilled interdisciplinary company who offer a comprehensive range of construction consultancy services, who are looking to appoint a Senior Clerk of Works on a permanent role.

This will be a full-time position based in Birmingham with a salary of up to £55,000 - £60,000pa.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in a spectrum of projects, including cladding and high-risk buildings across the housing and care sector.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working on new build projects for social housing providers, local government organisations and schools

  • Overseeing rip and fit out contracts which include full retro-fitting

  • Liaising with building contractors and preparing reports for contract administrators/ project managers

  • Undertaking regular inspections of construction work to monitor progress

  • Verifying compliance with contractual drawings, specifications, warranty standards and employer’s requirements

  • Identifying discrepancies, preparing written reports with supporting photographs and organising snagging

  • Attending end of defects inspections with the client in attendance

Experience required:

  • Membership with RICS, CIOB or ICWCI

  • New-build projects

  • Multi-sector experience, including housing and care

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Retrofit

  • Dealing with contract administration

  • On-site diligence

  • Proficiency with modern technology

  • 37.5 hours
