Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for a Secretariat Manager for a Public Sector body in the West Midlands for a 3-6 month contract.

The position is due to start on July the 14th on a full-time basis. The day rate is negotiable based on experience for this position.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in industrial relations, a sound understanding of employee relations protocols and document governance, and excellent organisational and communication skills.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing the secretariat function including planning forward programmes, preparing agendas, and distributing relevant documents on time

  • Coordinating with Business Support to ensure timely issue of meeting notes and tracking progress of agreed actions between meetings

  • Ensuring timely submission of Section 188 letters and HR1 forms to appropriate external parties

  • Drafting FOI responses and handling questions from elected members, while also providing statistical reports to relevant government bodies

  • Managing a central archive repository for Collective Agreements, HR policies, procedures, and benchmarking material received from industrial forums

  • Overseeing the development and implementation of a virtual Employee Handbook and managing associated IR and HR policy intranet content

Experience required:

  • Proven experience in industrial relations, secretariat management, and stakeholder liaison

  • Demonstrated ability in coordinating and preparing official meetings and documentation

  • Familiarity with employment law documentation such as Section 188 and HR1 submissions
