Job description

We are currently working with a Local Authority based in Greater Manchester, who are recruiting for a locum Property Lawyer on an initial four-month contract. The position is due to start immediately, and is offering an hourly rate of £50 - £60 via an Umbrella company.

 

There is potential for the role to be carried out remotely, but candidates able to attend office in Greater Manchester will be favoured. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, and have significant experience working within Local Government.

 

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing legal advice and managing land and property transactions for the Council from start to finish, including drafting contracts, leases, transfers and related documents
  • Advising on trusts, company law and charity law where these relate to property matters, and supporting governance processes to ensure compliance with the Council's Constitution
  • Undertaking complex legal research and produce reports, briefings and guidance for Council officers and elected members
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across Legal Services and client departments, and where required, liaise with and manage external legal advisers
  • Keeping up to date with developments in land and property law, maintaining and updating precedents and providing training or support to officers as needed

 

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Local Government
  • Significant experience dealing with property legal matters
  • Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister

 

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday
