Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in North London, who are recruiting for a Project Manager on a temporary six-month contract. The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to go full time. The daily pay rate is up to £500 per day dependent on experience. 

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of managing major works contractors and have delivered large scale planned works programmes. 

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead on the  preparation, specification, procurement of specified investment programmes in accordance with contract, including preparing briefs for consultants and contractors on proposed works projects as required
  • Pro-active monitoring of the preparation, specification, procurement of active schemes reporting to the Investment Delivery Manager
  • Support the investment planning process to creating efficient and deliverable programmes of work to meet requirements
  • To lead on procurement of works where necessary ensuring compliance with all current legislation and financial regulations
  • Contract management and delivery of planned maintenance and investment programmes in accordance with contract and Group requirements for their allocated schemes

Experience required:

  • Extensive experience managing Major Works contractors within a construction or repairs related organisation
  • Good understanding of VFM principles and be able to support and offer technical advice, making recommendations, based on finding from complex building reports
  • Experience in working closely with 3rd parties and consultants in relation to properties

 Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Good project, programme, contract, safety, cost and change management skills as well as experience of successfully coordinating large scale planned works programmes
  • Detailed knowledge of Health and Safety, CDM, Project Management and Contract Management IT systems
  • Effective and persuasive written and verbal communication skills, effective for a range of target audiences
