Job description

Our client, based in Dorset, is currently recruiting for a Private Sector Housing Officer on a 3 month temporary contract.

The position is due to start in early December 2023 on a full-time 37 hours per week basis. The hourly rate is £35 per hour via umbrella.

The successful candidate must be HHSRS qualified and have recent experience of inspecting properties, as well as hold a full UK Driving License.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Undertaking HHSRS inspections for single dwelling complaints in private rented sector

  • Revisiting single dwelling disrepair complaints in the private rented sector to check compliance with schedule of works

  • Gathering evidence for breaches of Housing Act 2004 for potential Civil Penalties and prosecutions

  • Using Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) qualification (essential) to survey dwellings

  • Inspecting properties and carrying out HHSRS assessments

  • Taking action under the Housing Act 2004

  • Efficiently recording actions and time-keeping

Experience required:

  • Need to be Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) qualified

  • Recent experience of inspecting properties and carrying out HHSRS assessments

  • Housing Act 2004 actions

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Excellent recording of actions and time-keeping

  • Risk assessment and management

  • Compliance and due diligence
