Job description
We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the North-West, who are recruiting for a locum Planning Lawyer on an initial 4 - 6 month contract. The position is due to start immediately, and the hourly rate is negotiable depending on candidate's experience and expectations.
The successful candidate must have significant experience in Planning Law within a Local Government setting. The role can be conducted remotely, but any candidates who are able to attend committee meetings will be at an advantage.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):

Advising on Town & Country Planning matters, including advising and drafting Section 106 agreements including in relation to biodiversity net gain and bi-lateral and unilateral agreements

Handling certificates of lawful use

Attending local authority planning committee to advise on planning and process matters

Providing legal advice in respect of all planning matters across council departments as directed by the Legal Services Team Manager and the Director of Law and Governance

Attending and representing at meetings with client department and other agencies and legal representatives
Experience required:
- Experience required in Local Government
- Experience managing Planning & Highways law matters
Working hours:
- 37 hours per week
- Monday - Friday
