Job description

We are currently partnering with a progressive Housing Association with services based in Staffordshire, who are recruiting for an Outreach Worker to join their growing team on a temporary to permanent basis.

Our client is proud to provide high quality accommodation for people in need, reduce homelessness and help customers work towards stability and independence.

This is a full-time position with an hourly rate of £13.00 per hour on a PAYE basis (including holiday pay) and an annual salary of approximately £23,200.00. The ideal candidate would be able to start immediately

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Responding to rough sleeper outreach calls across Staffordshire (primarily Lichfield and Cannock), with a caseload of up to 12

  • Providing support and guidance to service users and signposting them to additional support services

  • Helping customers to find suitable accommodation and helping to source this

  • Giving advice on welfare benefits and advising customers on their entitlements

  • Working alongside other agencies to deliver on the support outreach programme, for example additional services specialising in substance misuse support

  • Visiting some customers who recently started living in their own home, providing tenancy sustainment advice to ensure they do not fall into arrears and to prevent further homelessness

Experience required:

  • A sufficient understanding of working with customers facing complex needs

  • An enthusiastic approach to working with vulnerable customers

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Providing outreach advice/guidance

  • Discussing welfare benefit rights and entitlements

  • Sourcing temporary accommodation with a quick turnaround

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm (with some degree of flexibility available)
