Job description

We are currently partnering with a leading Local Council based in the North West of England, who are recruiting for a Licensing Manager to lead their growing team on a 4-6 month temporarycontract.

This is a full-time position with 3 days per week in the office required. The hourly / day rate is negotiable dependent on experience and the start date is subject to notice.

The ideal candidate will have experience of managing a Licensing team and a full UK driving license with access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring the efficient administration of the licensing system for a range of activities currently the responsibility of the Council (e.g. taxis, private hire vehicles, small lotteries, cinemas, places of public entertainment, street collection)

  • Providing professional and experienced managerial support to the Licensing Team including 2 Licensing Officers, 1 Licensing Assistant PT and 2 Licensing Clerks PT

  • Administering the system of licensing of a range of activities currently the responsibility of the Council

  • Acting in a collaborative way to assist in the successful achievement of the Corporate Plan within the context of a single authority-wide culture

  • Ensuring compliance with licence conditions including liaising with other departments of the Council and external agencies and carrying out any necessary enforcement action within the powers of the Council

  • Preparing and presenting reports to the Licensing & Regulatory Committees, to attend proceedings in the Magistrates and Crown Courts and any other relevant court or tribunal

  • Dealing with licensing enquiries from the public

  • Harmonise policy and practices across the Authority

Experience required:

  • Experience required in managing a Licensing team

  • Experience of licensing systems

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Administering licenses in regards to taxis, private hire vehicles, small lotteries, cinemas, places of public entertainment, street collection etc

  • Preparing and presenting reports to the Licensing & Regulatory Committees

Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
