Job description

Our client, based in Bedfordshire, is currently recruiting for an Independent Living Housing Officer on a three-month temporary contract with the potential of extension.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is negotiable up to £24.00 per hour via an Umbrella Company.

The ideal candidate will have an Enhanced DBS certificate dated within the last 3 years and access to their own vehicle. This role is predominately home working with an expectation to travel across a broad patch in the surrounding areas.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing a Housing Management service with a focus of putting customers at centre of the service

  • Discussing repayments and making appropriate arrangements to repay arrears over the phone

  • Advising tenants of all methods available to pay rent and charges, including Direct Debits and ordering rent cards

  • Assisting tenants with their housing benefit claims and offering advice on the implications of Welfare Reform on the clients

  • Ensuring and preparing court paperwork is completed in a timely manner and in conjunction with any legal representative of the organisation

  • Working collaboratively and ensuring a smooth transition when starting and ending tenancies to minimise void lass during the lettings process

  • Supporting and resolving any tenancy and lease issues

  • Dealing with all cases of low level ASB including noise and nuisance complaints

  • Referring customers to the correct support organisations and liaising with internal and external departments to ensure the correct support is provided

Experience required:

  • Must be up to date with knowledge of Housing related legislation

  • Experience of tenancy and neighbourhood management

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Proven debt management experience

  • Able to build rapport and build effective relationships

  • 37.00 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
