Job description

We are currently working with a Public Sector organisation based in Gloucestershire, who are looking for a HR/OD Business Partner on a 12 month contract.

The role will be mainly working from home with one day per week in office, and the hourly rate will be £25-30 DOE.

They are looking for someone with strong employee relations and change management experience, and who has ideally worked in the Public Sector and with Trade Unions previously.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting managers in undertaking disciplinary investigations and hearings, sickness meetings, capability meetings and other procedures of the council including appeal hearings

  • Consulting and negotiating with trade unions about HR matters such as service reviews including TUPE transfers and restructures

  • Providing day to day advice, guidance and support on HR matters to managers and employees including the interpretation and application of national terms and conditions, HR policies and procedures, pensions and employment law

  • Assisting with the development of HR / OD and learning and development programmes and undertaking staff training

  • Supporting the recruitment process by advising managers on contract types, job descriptions and person specifications, advertising, selection tools and interviews

Experience required:

  • Confident in coaching and supporting line managers

  • Strong employee relations experience

  • Previous experience working with trade unions

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • CIPD L5 qualified

  • Recent experience in an HR generalist or similar role

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week (part-time options will be considered)

  • Monday – Friday

  • 9am-5pm
