Job description

We are currently working with a public sector organisation based in Wolverhampton who are looking to a Human Resources Advisoron a permanent basis. The role is a full time position (37 hours) paying up to £31,000 per annum and will be split between home and office working.

The ideal candidate will have a CIPD qualification at Level 5 and have at least two years‘ experience within a HR Advisory position.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Advising managers and staff on matters relating to employment contracts and conditions, employment law and the University’s HR policies and procedures

  • Handling employee relations casework dealing with matters such as performance management, disciplinary investigations, grievances, sickness absence, capability issues and attendance, guiding line managers through relevant University procedures

  • Preparing papers and supporting the chair of disciplinary hearings, or the presenting officer

  • Developing toolkits for managers around ER and producing template letters

  • Contributing to the review and amending HR policies and procedures

  • Liaising with HR Systems & Information to ensure that regular management information and ad hoc reports are provided

  • Contributing and working to the HR Plan and ensuring delegated objectives are met in line with the plan and highlighting risks to delivery

Experience required:

  • CIPD qualification at Level 5

  • Experience of providing advice to managers and working with trade unions

  • Experience of working in the public sector (desirable)

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Tactful and diplomatic in dealing with sensitive matters with proven influencing skills and the ability to deal effectively with conflict

  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and experience of providing advice and guidance to managers as required

  • Willingness to travel to other sites as a routine part of the job
