Job description
We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in Gloucestershire, who are recruiting for a Housing Options Officer on a three-month contract with the potential for full-time employment. The hourly rate of pay is £30 via an Umbrella company, with two days per week in the office.
The ideal candidate will have part VII working knowledge/ experience, drive and have access to their own vehicle, and have proven experience of the below.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Carrying out section 184 decisions with homelessness applications
- Arranging temporary emergency accommodation to those at risk of Homelessness before other accommodation can be organised
- Providing advice to tenants and individuals over the phone and face to face in regards to their housing situation
- Develop strong relationships with all housing providers which include B&B's, hostels and private accommodation - Whilst promoting multi-agency initiatives in the prevention of homelessness
- Providing homeless advice and referring to alternative teams, organisations and agencies to access further support
- Preventing and relieving homelessness in accordance with the Homeless Reduction Act, by maintaining existing accommodation through negotiating with landlords, sourcing and proactively assisting clients into alternative accommodation, attending court hearings, seeking assistance from other agencies
Experience required:
- Experience required in Local Authorities
- Strong legislation experience
Working hours:
- 37 hours per week
- Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
