Job description
Our client, based in Staffordshire, is currently recruiting for a Housing Options Officer on a three-month temporary contract.
The position is due to start before the end of December on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is negotiable up to £24.50 per hour via an umbrella company dependent on experience for this position.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with asylum seekers, have a strong knowledge of prevention techniques and hold a clear, enhanced DBS taken out within the last three years.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Carrying out section 184 decisions with homelessness applications
Focusing on prevention work and putting in the appropriate measures
Carrying out/working with customers who have been provided with a Section 21 notice
Providing advice, information, and assistance to applicants who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
Helping applicants to explore their housing options and find suitable temporary accommodation that meets their needs
Working with young people aged 18+ who have presented as homeless and mediating between their families to prevent homelessness occurring
Helping tenants to understand their rights according to government legislation
Providing the correct information to tenants regarding re-housing, benefits, or any other relevant tenancy issues
Working closely with the team dealing with Discretionary Housing Payments
Working alongside a specialist team who work help asylum seekers source longer term accommodation
Experience required:
Working with asylum seekers and refugees
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
A strong knowledge of prevention techniques
Have an up-to-date knowledge of housing legislation

37 hours per week
Monday – Friday, 6.00am – 11.00pm (Flexibility to work your standard hours within this timeframe)
