Job description

We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in South West, who are recruiting for a Governance, Risk & Assurance Manager to join their team for 9-12 months, to cover maternity leave.

This role is part-time, 3 days per week/22-25 hours per week. The rate of pay is circa. £350.00 /day (negotiable), paid via an Umbrella company.

It is a majority home working role, however office presence once every week/2 weeks is desirable.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead and coordinate all activities relating to risk management, raising awareness and helping to further develop the organisations risk culture, including keeping the strategic risk register up to date
  • Report on performance for the Housing department and ensure that all housing related statutory returns are completed and submitted to the relevant regulator on time
  • Develop and produce regular assurance reports covering the areas of performance, risk and statutory compliance, actively highlighting areas of non-compliance to the Council's Leadership Team
  • Prepare reports and present Management Information to the Leadership Team and elected members relating to corporate governance, risk and assurance in a clear and concise manner
  • Line manage 2 Information Governance Officers and ensure compliance with relevant legislation


Experience required:

  • Experience within Governance, Risk and Assurance management
  • Public sector experience
  • Line management experience
