Job description

We are delighted to be partnering with a multinational conglomerate, based in Bedford, who are recruiting for a Financial Accountant on a permanent basis.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis and offers two days’ working from home, however the successful candidate will be required to be onsite for an initial induction period.

The salary on offer is up to £60,000 per annum, offering a 10% bonus. The successful candidate must be qualified (CIMA/ACCA) and have experience of Corporation Tax and VAT.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Reporting into the Finance Director and working across two sales entities to assume responsibility for tax returns and compliance and statutory reporting

  • Drafting statutory annual financial statements for two entities and assisting with the annual audit particularly with reference to accounts disclosures

  • Taking the key lead in management of the company’s tax obligations, principally VAT and Corporation Tax but some tangential involvement in other taxes

  • Working with the Finance Business Partner on monthly accounts preparation and reporting process for the two entities

  • Assisting in the twice-yearly budget process, particularly in producing reports from data input by the business and reviewing their integrity and resemblance to actual results to date

  • Collaborating with other members of the Finance team, Managing Director and other members of senior management and the shared service centre in Poland

  • Liaising with the company’s auditors, tax advisors and officers of HMRC

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Qualified Accountant - ACCA or CIMA

  • Strong experience of statutory accounts, year-end financial accounts and corporate tax, and ideally exposure to VAT

  • Experience of working with large ERP systems essential, preferably SAP

  • Exposure to medium to large sized company accounts

  • Self-motivated, ability to work in a small team environment to organise work, prioritise tasks, and handle multiple assignments simultaneously

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, as well as the ability to work autonomously

  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate complex financial data to a range of audiences

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm

  • Two days working from home – must be onsite for initial induction period
