Exciting Opportunity: Not-For-Profit – Finance Officer

Our client, a public Trust funded Estate, is actively recruiting for an Finance Officer on a five month temporary contract.

The position is due to start immediately a full-time basis, Monday to Friday. They are offering a hourly rate of either: £20.89 through an Umbrella Company or £17.98 PAYE inclusive of holiday pay.

Please note the ideal candidate will have experience working within the charity sector!

Duties will include – but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and issue accurate sales invoices in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and customer requirements
  • Monitor and respond to finance-related emails daily, prioritising queries and escalating issues where necessary
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable (AP) system to ensure invoices are processed accurately and on time
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, investigating variances and ensuring all entries are supported with appropriate documentation
  • Track approvals, identify errors or delays, and support process improvements to maintain efficient supplier payment cycles
  • Prepare and execute fortnightly BACS payment runs, ensuring accuracy of payment details and compliance with internal controls
  • Reconcile payment batches, resolve rejected transactions, and maintain secure payment records
  • Proactively follow up with customers regarding overdue invoices, issuing reminders and statements as required
  • Negotiate payment plans, when necessary, maintain positive client relationships, and escalate unresolved debts to management for further action

Experience required:

  • Experience working within the charity sector
  • Organised and good attention to detail

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday: (9:00am – 5:00pm)
  • Hybrid working available after four weeks in the role then it will drop to two days working from home per week
