Job description

Our client, based in Oxfordshire, is currently recruiting for an Electrician on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time position with a salary of £39,000 with a company van and the start date is subject to notice.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on domestic properties, hold 18th edition and 2391 and hold a full UK driving license.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Undertaking a range of planned, void or maintenance works, repairing or replacing items to maintain properties to a high standard, in line with the role skills framework

  • Carrying out retrofit LD1 – LD2 – LD3 alarm smoke/CO/heat systems in domestic properties

  • Completing EICR’s inspections and record the information on the required documentation

  • Completing works in conjunction with all health and safety procedures, policies and legislation

  • Working efficiently and deliver high standards of quality

  • Working unsupervised and in occupied or unoccupied (void) properties and complying with the Code of Conduct

  • Being competent in the completion of reports, ordering and maintaining sufficient materials and completing orders

  • Working in a professional and courteous manner

  • Participating in an out of hours emergency rota and attend call-outs as required

Qualifications required:

  • Minimum of level 3 NVQ in electrical installation

  • Qualified to City & Guilds standard (18th Edition)

  • Working knowledge of current 18th edition BS7671 - Edition two

  • Qualified to City and Guilds 2391

  • CSCS Card

  • Asbestos awareness training

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Ability to undertake a range of planned and responsive maintenance works, repairing, replacing and maintaining properties to a high standard

  • Undertake full EICR inspections and retrofit LD1 – LD3 alarm systems in domestic properties

  • Technical skills to carry out work on electrical systems, with experience of domestic refurbishment and maintenance repairs

  • Able to ensure the safe and proper use of all mechanical and non-mechanical plant and equipment under their direct control

  • Ability to set out work from drawings and specifications and requisition the necessary materials

  • Ability to plan, prioritise and manage own workload to achieve deadlines

  • Ability to effectively use hand-held electronic devices

  • Respect for safety and cleanliness of the workplace

  • Respect for, and ability to communicate with tenants and maintain good relations

  • Able to work as part of a team, flexible attitude to work and willing to work with apprentices

  • Able to work without immediate supervision in the most economical manner

  • To undertake ‘out of trade’ work as may be required from time to time

  • Ability to work at heights from ladders or scaffolding, lifting platforms and cherry pickers

  • Effective time and workload management skills and excellent standards of personal organisation

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week
