Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the East Midlands, who are recruiting for a home-based Complaints Officer (Repairs) on a temporary four-month contract.

The role is a part time position and the hourly rate of pay is £18.00 per hour on an umbrella basis.

The ideal candidate will have experience of dealing with complaints, ideally within a social housing background and have knowledge of the housing ombudsman code.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing support to tackle an increase and backlog in repairs complaints made by residents within council-owned properties

  • Investigating predominantly Stage 2 complaints from the Property Services team, investigating causes and co-ordinating responses effectively

  • Updating and communicating with all complainants throughout the process of complaints investigations

  • Ensuring all complaints are handled in line with the Housing Ombudsman code of practice

  • Drafting responses and provide informative information and facts to senior staff in order to make final decisions and sign offs

  • Analysing previous complaints and reports to identify patterns and trends

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Ideally have experience in dealing with Stage 2 complaints from a Property Services team within a Local Authority

  • Handling complaints in line with the Housing Ombudsman code of practice

  • The ability to build relations with residents

  • Proven experience of handling difficult calls

Working hours:

  • 25 hours per week

  • Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 3pm
