Job description
James Andrews is proud to be working with a reputable Housing Association to recruit a permanent Commercial Manager to join a dynamic team and help drive the successful delivery of the Development & Sales programme. The role is working in London on a hybrid model of three days at home, two days in the office. The annual salary for the role is £70,000 per annum.
Reporting to the Head of Commercial, you will provide strategic support across procurement, contract negotiations, and cost control - ensuring robust frameworks and partnerships are in place to mitigate risk and deliver value. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners, playing a key role in securing the commercial success of the organisations ambitious housing initiatives.
The range of function which are covered include:
- Providing construction procurement and framework support that will influence the delivery of projects and the overall programme
- Work on the negotiation of constructions contracts and development agreements
- Assist by providing advice on cost information provided by consultants
- Ensure that risk registers are developed and maintained, as appropriate
- Reviewing and negotiating cost sum analyses, for inclusion in build contracts
- Support and advise on the appropriateness of proposed development and contracting partners, advising on contractual safeguards such as bonds, PCGs and building warranties
Experience and skills required:
- A track record of operating within a large and complex organisation with experience in delivering on financial analysis and modelling expertise to aid the evaluation of major capital projects
- Experience in negotiating and managing build contracts and cost sum analyses
- Understanding of a range of procurement routes and forms of contract
- Commercial awareness
- Knowledge of investment considerations and financial appraisal within the development sector
- Good communication skills, both orally and written, using a range of techniques and tools to convey messages
