Job description

We are currently working with a leading Surveying practice that is recruiting for a Clerk of Works on a temporary 3-6 month contract, covering a West London to Reading patch.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The day rate is between £250 - £300 LTD, negotiable based on experience for this position.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing New Build social housing and residential construction projects. They will also be a member of the ICWCI and have their own vehicle with a full UK Driving License.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Work on a variety of new build, refurbishment and cladding projects, across mainly housing / residential works but also schools, leisure centres and community spaces
  • Ensure works on site are carried out in compliance with all required construction standards such as specifications, plans and contract documents
  • Recommend any aspect of works which do not conform to the plans, specifications, or schedules of works and other documentation of which might be unsatisfactory for other reasons of design, workmanship or cost
  • Inform of poor quality of materials, suggest changes to specifications to improve customer satisfaction and value for money
  • Liaise with surveyor managers, client’s representative and contractors and resolve any queries they may have had
  • Inspect, record and report works in progress, ensuring correct materials provided and work is carried out according to specifications
  • Ensure that projects are delivered efficiently within defined levels of expenditure, time constraints and quality

Experience required:

  • New build residential projects
  • Member of the ICWCI
  • Managing projects worth up to £40 million

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Report writing
  • Financial management and budgeting
  • Compliance and due diligence
