Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a multi-disciplinary construction consultancy, who are looking to appoint a Clerk of Works on a permanent basis.

This will be a full-time position based in London, with flexible hybrid working and a salary of £50,000-£55,000 per annum.

The ideal candidate will hold a full UK driving license and be a member of the Institute of Clerk of Works and Construction Inspectorate (or willing to obtain such status).

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Monitoring and inspecting all works in progress, including those of sub-contractors throughout the execution of the contract for compliance with the specification
  • Informing the Project Manager and the Principal Contractor in writing of any workmanship and materials found not to comply
  • Reporting in line with the requirements of specific scope of services
  • Maintaining a diary of the progress of works, delays, unsatisfactory workmanship or materials, visitors to the site and weather, on a weekly basis
  • Recording the details of any occurrence or situation thought likely to cause delay or of any delays which do occur in relation to the building contract and inform the Project Manager
  • Submitting any queries on the drawings and specifications to the Project Manager; draw the attention of the Project Manager to any apparent discrepancies noted on the drawings and between drawings and specifications and measured items in the contract documents
  • Attending sites and providing full service as required by the building contract

Experience required:

  • Experience required in new builds
  • Experience working on residential projects
  • Member of the ICWCI

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Risk assessment and management
  • Good knowledge of quality and safety standards
  • Monitor progress effectively to ensure the delivery of projects on time and within budget

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
