Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in Oxfordshire, who are recruiting for a locum Childcare Lawyer to join the team for 3-months initially.

The role offers hybrid working with a mix of virtual and attended hearings, and a rate in the region of £50 p/hour UMB, negotiable subject to PQE.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing a comprehensive legal service on all aspects of child protection work to the Children, Young People and Families Directorate and to the Council
  • Handling a personal portfolio of child care cases to a high standard of professional practice
  • Representing the Council in attended hearings concerning children in the Family Court
  • Briefing Counsel on behalf of the Council in the Family Court, and obtaining Counsel’s opinion on any relevant matters relating to children’s proceedings
  • Advising on, negotiating and drafting legal documents to give effect to decisions of the Client Directorate and the Council
