Job description

Our client, based in South Manchester, is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor on a permanent basis.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience in the sector, however this requirement can be flexible.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Delivering multiple construction projects concurrently, working closely with Occupational Therapists to deliver property adaptations
  • Conducting feasibility surveys, producing specifications, and monitoring disabled adaptations on-site
  • Coordinating with in-house architects to manage domestic extensions from inception to completion, including statutory planning and building regulation compliance
  • Assisting with project-specific financial controls, including approving valuations, variations, payments, and invoices
  • Collaborating with project teams, clients, and customers to ensure smooth project delivery and achievement of objectives
  • Investigating and resolving customer complaints of a technical nature
  • Monitoring site work in accordance with contractors’ method statements and CDM 2015 requirements, ensuring health and safety compliance
  • Ensuring an excellent customer experience that meets and exceeds expectations

Experience required:

  • HNC or HND in Building Surveying (desirable)

Working hours (add/delete as appropriate):

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday - 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm

About you

  • Experience as a Building Surveyor delivering disabled adaptations, capital investment
    projects, and maintenance and refurbishment contracts within the social housing
    sector
  • Experience of working on DFG/Adaptation contracts desirable, but not essential
  • SMSTS qualification or other equivalent Health and Safety qualification
  • Experience of procurement, cost evaluation and project control and an understanding
    of contractor performance within a social housing environment
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation, in particular the requirements
    under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
