We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in Devon, who are recruiting for a locum Senior Civil Litigation Lawyer (Education) to join the team for 3-months initially.

The role can be on a fully remote basis with a rate in the region of £55p/hour UMB, negotiable subject to PQE.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling a caseload of Education matters within a Local Authority.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Advising on a range of civil litigation matters including complex drafting and advocacy, with a focus on Education Law

• Handling a caseload including judicial review and Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND)

• Briefing Counsel for the representation of the Local Authority in the SEN Tribunal and obtaining Counsel’s opinion on any relevant proceedings

• Advising on, negotiating and drafting legal documents relating to SEN Tribunal Appeals, Resolutions & Compliance proceedings

• Providing legal advice to maintained schools in regards to a range of matters, including parental disputes
