Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Middlesex, who are recruiting for a Project Surveyor on a temporary three-month contract. The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to go full time. The hourly rate of pay is negotiable up to £40 via an Umbrella company.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of managing planned maintenance projects and have access to a car.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Deliver planned and reactive programmes of work and improvement programmes for preventative and cyclical maintenance, making sure they are safe, on time and delivered to a high standard
  • Evaluate, specify and organise repairs, condition and improvements surveys/inspections of dwellings, buildings, and land, assessing and diagnosing defects
  • Produce programme and project reports, initiating and updating project documentation, appraisal and quality assurance, contract administration and monitoring progress and quality on site
  • Fulfil the role of Project Surveyor, Supervisor, Contract Administrator, Clerk of Works as required by JCT (Joint Contracts Tribunal) contracts respectively and deliver all technical elements of allocated projects/programmes
  • Support the monitoring and reporting of project expenditure and costs against budgets, providing accurate reports to ensure effective project budget management, including profiling, forecasting and risk logs, and value for money
  • Experience required:

  • Managing planned works, including cyclical decoration
  • Managing contractors and consultants to successfully complete projects
  • Managing a project team, undertaking technical inspections, producing tender briefs, pricing documents, and managing projects, ideally in a social housing environment
  • Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Building maintenance, specifications, and using diagnostic techniques to support decisions
  • Supporting the implementation, procurement, delivery, and supervision of maintenance contracts
  • Construction standard suites of contracts – JCT
  • Knowledge of structural repairs and stock condition surveying
