Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a nationwide based Housing Association covering a patch across the West Midlands, who are recruiting for a Partnering Surveyor.

Our client is open to seeing applicants on either a permanent or temporary basis. The start date is dependent upon notice, with the permanent salary being £44,435 per annum + a £3,715 car allowance. The hourly rate for the temporary side is £35.00 - £38.00 per hour.

The ideal candidate will have a HNC as a minimum, and have experience in a customer focused role within Social Housing.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Leading on the operational responsibility for the delivery of all responsive, void, planned, capital investment and service chargeable maintenance activities within a designated area

  • Instilling and maintaining long-term relationships with our key supply chain partners in delivering programmes of planned investment, major repair projects and responsive maintenance to create a seamless service

  • Contributing to performance reports and attend performance reviews with our partners to enable feedback and proactive actions on team delivery and efficiency

  • Performing contractual and commercial responsibilities of Contract administrator on assigned projects or contracts

  • Ensuring that all projects are undertaken in safe and CDM compliant manner

  • Liaising with design consultants, managing agents, local authorities, and/or other construction related professionals as required, lead on NHBC, insurance and third party claims

  • Investigating and resolving construction/building related defects to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained

  • Producing specifications and schedules of works, carrying out localised procurement for suitable projects whilst adhering to the standing orders/procurement rules of the Association

  • Dealing and responding to occurrences of service failure including compensation/liability claims, complaints and general legal matters within target response timescales. Ensure our customer involvement policies are adopted to ensure the customers ‘voice’ is heard and addressed effectively

  • Assisting in embedding processes that remove waste, drive costs down, increase social value initiatives, deliver real digital innovation ensuring our customers have a voice in shaping and improving service

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Customer service orientated personality

  • Proven experience of operating long-term partnering contracts and delivering large scale programmes of Capital Investment component works on time, and to budget across a wide geographical area

  • Proven experience of delivering a responsive/void/ service-charge maintenance service

  • Full understanding of CDM compliance

  • Good understanding of ‘Decent Homes’ requirements, coupled with significant quality control and on-site project management experience

  • Good written/verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of building components, diagnosis of building defects, building/contract law, building regulations

  • Educated to minimum HNC level or equivalent professional experience / qualification in construction, housing, management or property

  • Potential and willingness to undertake further ongoing CPD to maintain Best Practice knowledge

  • A full UK driving license, plus access to a car with the ability to drive as and when required by the business

Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm

  • Work from home tow days per week
