Job description

Our client, based in the West Midlands, is currently recruiting for an Income Officer on a permanent basis. The position is due to start in April on a full-time basis, with an annual salary of £30,009.

The ideal candidate will have experience preparing documents for court, have access to their own vehicle and have an enhanced DBS dated within the last three years or be willing to have one carried out.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Carrying out home visits or virtual face to face contact, in connection with income recovery or arrears prevention

  • Preparing cases for court and representing the Association in possession cases as necessary

  • Ensuring that all rent accounts are monitored regularly and providing a customer focused service and advising on preventative action to be taken to stop them falling into arrears

  • Liaising with Housing Benefit departments and the Department of Work and Pensions to encourage prompt and accurate payment of claims, and speedy resolution of problems

  • Ensuring the preparation and service of legal notices are carried out in line with current procedures

  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of housing and welfare benefits and providing information and signposting tenants to relevant agencies

Experience required:

  • Preparing and serving legal notices in line with current policies and procedures

  • Experience working with possession cases and attending court

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Strong knowledge of the housing benefit and pension system

  • Up to date on all housing laws and legislations

  • Be able to adopt a person-centred approach

Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, flexible working between 8:00am and 6:00pm
