Job description

We are proud to be partnering with a Charity based in Bedfordshire who are looking to appoint a Housing Officer to join their passionate and proactive team on a permanent basis.

This will be a full-time position, with an annual salary of £23,817.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Supporting and enabling tenants to develop social skills through specific programs provided by relevant advocacy/agencies, and by encouraging them to participate in the community

  • Working with a significant number of ex-offenders who have low-to-medium levels of complicated needs, including substance misuse and mental health

  • Operating with tenants to prevent potential eviction

  • Supplying information and advice about Welfare Benefits (especially that of Housing Benefit)

  • Completing assessments and providing equipment/facilities to the needs of the tenants when required

  • Explaining to occupants about housing performance and overseeing the housing management complaints

  • Offering guidance on tenant’s rights and responsibilities

  • Inspecting properties ensuring there are no tenancy breaches and advise the clients on the policies and procedures

  • Conducting risk assessments and monitor safeguarding

  • Recording and creating action plans in order to document how clients rent arrears have been addressed

  • Promoting positive service and community engagement, contributing to the positive environment of the accommodation

  • Liaising with external agencies to ensure all tenants have the right support, and overcome all matters of ASB

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Strong knowledge of Housing Management, with previous experience

  • A good understanding around Supported Housing and assisting vulnerable tenants

  • Ability to conduct risk assessments

  • Confident in providing housing and benefit advice

Working hours:

  • 40 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
