Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Cambridgeshire, who are recruiting for a Housing Officer on a temporary two-month contract.

The position is due to start immediately on a part-time basis working 17.5 hours per week. The hourly rate of pay is up to £21.00 via an Umbrella company, this could be negotiable depending on experience.

The ideal candidate will have used the QL system previously, have a basic DBS certificate, or be happy to have one carried out, drive and have access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a patch of 200 properties across the Cambridgeshire region

  • Carrying out regular tenancy visits, providing tenancy advice and liaising with other teams including repairs departments when required

  • Dealing with medium to low level cases of ASB, mediating between residents when required

  • Monitoring tenants rent accounts and chasing tenants rent arrears

  • Helping customers to put together affordable repayment plans to avoid arrears arising

  • Signposting customers to additional support providers and external agencies

  • Dealing with general estate and tenancy management to ensure that local areas remain tidy

  • Attending court for escalated cases – however this experience is not essential

  • Mediate situations with tenants and take witness statements, trying to deescalate at every opportunity

Experience required:

  • Carrying out the full duties of a generic housing office: including tenancy management, ASB and rents

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Confidently managing a patch of properties

  • Financial management and budgeting
