Job description
We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in Warwickshire, who are currently recruiting for a Housing Allocations Officer on a temporary 3-month contract.
The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis working 37 hours per week. The hourly rate of pay is up to £17.00 per hour via an Umbrella company, this could be negotiable depending on experience.
The ideal candidate will need have experience having worked in a Local Authority setting doing a similar role and have a basic DBS certificate.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Providing a customer focused housing allocations service to applicants within a Local Authority based setting
- Assessing and shortlisting applicants on the Housing Waiting List, determining the status of applications
- Completing suitability assessments for offers of accommodation
- Completing nominations for Registered Provider nominations
- Liaising with Registered Providers on nominations, ensuring sustainment checks are carried out
- Providing further advice to those applying to the Housing register, including signposting to relevant external services
- Handling telephone and email queries
- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of relevant housing legislation and case law
Experience required:
- Generic Housing Allocations Officer focusing on the shortlisting and allocation of Council properties
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
- Strong understanding of Local Authority allocations
- Providing nominations to Registered Providers
