Job description
We are working closely with a Housing Association based in South Birmingham, who are recruiting for a Housing Allocations Assistant on a temporary three-month contract. The position is due to start immediately and the hourly rate of pay is negotiable via an Umbrella company.
The ideal candidate will know how to process allocations and will have used the Abritas system.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Reviewing and processing new housing applications in line with local authority policies and eligibility criteria using the new allocations system
Accurately inputting, updating, and managing applicant information and housing stock details within the new allocations platform
Using the system to generate shortlists and matching applicants to appropriate properties based on priority banding, need, and availability
Assigning housing units to successful applicants, ensuring compliance with legal and policy frameworks, and that decisions are clearly recorded in the system
Identifying and reporting any issues or inefficiencies within the new system and assisting with user testing or feedback to improve functionality
Offering guidance and technical support to colleagues and applicants navigating the new allocations platform, ensuring a smooth transition and effective use
Coordinating with housing officers, landlords, and partner agencies to confirm allocations and ensuring properties are ready for tenancy
Generating allocation reports and performance metrics from the system to support transparency, monitor trends, and inform strategic decision-making
Skills, knowledge and experience required:
Proven experience in housing allocations
Strong working knowledge of the Abritas system
Understanding of housing legislation, policies, and eligibility criteria
Effective communication and stakeholder liaison skills
Excellent organisational and administrative skills
Working hours:
Full time (37 hours a week) - In office
Monday - Friday, flexible hours between 8am-6pm
