Job description

We are partnering with an award-winning Housing Association based in East London, in the search for a Group Financial Controller to join their team on a full time, 12-month fixed term contract.

The position is due to start as soon as possible (subject to notice), offers hybrid working with fully flexible start and finish times.

Salary: £71,299 - £77,218 per annum

Duties will include (but not limited to):

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance and ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective finance service to the business, its suppliers and customers

Leading the whole team in relation to financial controls, financial governance, and good financial practice

Designing and implementing procedures as necessary to establish financial controls and quality standards

Directly managing two and indirectly a team of five across the rent and service remit

Managing the workflow of the teams and providing support and professional development to ensure the team is equipped with adequate technical accounting knowledge

Taking lead responsibility for the service charge accounting service, annual service charge estimates, actuals, invoices and statements process for all the Group’s residents, leaseholders and commercial customers

Maintaining Group Financial Regulations ensuring routine and appropriate review in line with evolving business requirements and emergent risks, and ensuring the whole finance team understand and observe the financial regulations

Leading on annual review and recommendation for approval to the Finance Director of all the financial policies and procedures prepared by the accounting staff

Supporting the Group Financial Accountant with the annual statutory accounting process and partner with them to implement new accounting standards

Lead on the effective maintenance, development, and investment in the IT systems utilised by the Finance department and ensuring that user-acceptance-testing is undertaken for all necessary IT system changes impacting the Finance team

Experience required:

Qualified ACA/FCA, ACCA/FCCA, CIMA or CIPFA

Designing and implementing financial controls

Preparation of statutory accounts and year end reporting

Highly numerate with intermediate/advanced excel skills

Comprehensive knowledge of accounting concepts

Working hours:

35 hours per week

Monday – Friday including flexible working hours

Hybrid working – three days working from home per week
