Job description
We are currently working in partnership with a prestigious Russell Group University in London, who are recruiting for a Governance Manager on a temporary three-month contract, with the potential to go six months.
The position is due to start immediately and the hourly rate of pay is negotiable dependent on experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Higher Education and has managed a committee secretariat function. Additionally, there is a need to revitalise a team depleted in terms of resource and leadership for the last 12 months, back up to a steady state where they can effectively and proactively plan.
Duties will include (but are not limited to)
Managing, supporting and revitalising a team of three, with two additional members joining late autumn, that has been depleted in terms of resource and leadership for the last 12 months
Proactively planning and delivering the work program by managing the team of five, setting clear expectations, and regularly discussing performance
Providing secretarial support to The University’s Council, Academic Board and its committees
Directly servicing Council and other key corporate governance committees as required, ensuring their annual cycles of business are fulfilled and including the coordination and timely preparation and submission of statutory returns
Ensuring good governance infrastructure by planning and overseeing an ongoing cycle of concurrent projects, including appropriate timetabling for all College committees
Experience required:
Experience required in Higher Education
Experience successfully managing a committee secretariat function
Experience of servicing committees at all levels (including agenda setting, paper calls, paper production, pack collation, minute taking and supporting committee chairs accordingly)
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to write clear records and minutes from meetings
Management skills
Committee secretariat skills
Working hours:
Monday to Friday (9-5)
Hybrid working
