Job description

We are currently working in partnership with Local Council based in Hertfordshire, who are recruiting for an Electoral Services Manager on a temporary 13-month contract. The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to be extended. The hourly rate of pay is negotiable.

The ideal candidate will past experience in Electoral Services in a local Government setting and will have demonstrable experience in delivering elections at a local level. Attendance on site will be needed 2-3 times a week with less flexibility during elections.

This is a full-time position, due to start immediately.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Management of Electoral Services in accordance with the council’s priorities, strategies and policies

  • Supporting the Democratic and Electoral Services Manager in the compilation, maintenance and publication of the Register of Electors

  • Developing the council’s Electoral Management System to deliver Election/Electoral Registration Services

  • Assisting the Democratic and Electoral Services Manager in the delivery of the electoral boundary and polling district reviews

  • Leading the engagement strategy under Registration including proactively identifying potential electors and targeting hard to reach groups

Experience required:

  • Experience of overseeing the efficient and effective administration and co-ordination of the electoral registration and election process

  • Experience of electoral registration and election legislation particularly that relating to Individual Electoral Registration (IER)

  • In depth understanding of local and/or central government and how they work

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • EAE Qualifications Essential

  • Past Elections Experience in Essential

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday

  • 9am – 5pm

  • Flexible hours available
