Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association based in Portishead, who are recruiting for a Damp, Mould and Condensation Surveyor on a temporary three month contract.

The position is due to start immediately, with the potential to go full time. The daily rate of pay is negotiable up to £40 per hour Umbrella.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in delivering and managing multiple technical building projects, a formal building qualification (e.g. RICS-accredited course, BSc, HNC or HND), and experience in surveying, building pathology, and defect diagnosis.

A full driving licence is essential, along with strong organisational and customer service skills.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing larger damp and mould cases, HHSRS cases, and other complex projects from inception to completion

  • Surveying properties to identify building defects using appropriate building pathology and testing

  • Completing detailed reports and specifications to support compliance, section 20 notices, and disrepair claims

  • Project managing repairs and remedial works to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to the required standards

  • Carrying out site audits and post-work inspections to maintain quality and value for money

  • Engaging with residents, leaseholders, contractors, and local authorities to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction

  • Preparing tenders, quotations, and project documentation in line with procurement guidelines

  • Ensuring all works comply with health and safety regulations, internal policies, and relevant legislation

Experience required:

  • Proven experience managing technical building projects

  • Strong working knowledge of health and safety regulations, including Construction Design Management (CDM)

  • Knowledge of HHSRS risks and relevant legislation/compliance

  • Experience of asset management, responsive repairs, and empty homes

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Surveying and defect diagnosis

  • Project management from conception to completion

  • Risk assessment and management

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9am–5pm
