Job description
We are currently working in partnership with a Charity based in Nottinghamshire, who are recruiting for a Youth Support Worker on either a temporary or permanent basis.
This position is due to start immediately. The hourly rate of pay is negotiable up to £17.50 via an Umbrella company and the salary for the permanent role is £24,448.70 per annum.
The ideal candidate will have an enhanced DBS dated within the last three years, or be happy to have one carried out, drive and have access to their own vehicle, and have proven experience in supporting young adults.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Ensuring effective communication with young people including monitoring and reviewing their progress
Signposting residents to appropriate internal and external support provisions
Undertaking one to one and group sessions with residents to sustain their tenancies, develop life skills and build community
Dealing with anti-social behaviour issues, serving notices and verbal and written warnings in accordance with procedures and appointing solicitors and attending court hearings as required
Managing and delivering intensive housing management
Ensuring the timely and accurate preparation and distribution of reports, monitoring information, incident reports and safeguarding reports
Helping young people claim housing benefit and other benefits as applicable
Dealing with complaints from residents and the public
Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with all relevant organisations
Experience required:
Previous experience working with vulnerable and challenging adults or young people
Experience dealing with safeguarding issues
Experience writing reports and completing statistic reports
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Strong knowledge of Housing issues and legislation relating to homelessness
Ability to demonstrate an empathetic, professional and person centred approach
Understanding of welfare benefits and specifically housing benefits
Knowledge of the external organisations that are affiliated with supported housing
Working hours:
37.5 hours per week
Shift Based Rota Monday- Friday: 8am-4pm & 2pm-10pm
Requirement to work every other weekend
