Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Young People’s Charity, who are looking to appoint a Young Persons Engagement Leadon a permanent opportunity.

They’re growing and extending our passionate Young Persons’ Housing team in Somerset and are keen to find people who really believe in young people and their potential and who are motivated to make a real difference in for young people and communities.

There are two opportunities in both Taunton and Bridgewater, it will be a full-time position, offering a salary of £24,461.52 per annum and the start date is subject to notice.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Helping tenants to maintain their rooms and living spaced

  • Helping clients to find move on accommodation and providing advice to help sustain their tenancies

  • Offering with welfare and benefits advice as well as giving support with general money management

  • Creating support plans and undertaking risk assessments

  • Signposting client queries to the appropriate external agency such as the Police, Probation Services, Social Services and Local Authorities

  • Encouraging clients to get involved with community activities and socialise with those around them

  • Assisting with tenancy management, low level anti-social behaviour complaints, rental arrears and more

  • Work in partnership with housing management and maintenance to address housing management issues 

Experience required:

  • Experience required working with young people or another vulnerable client group

  • Experience working with customers within housing

  • Experience providing housing related advice: Benefits advice and move-on support

 

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Risk assessment and management

  • Previously handled challenging behaviors

  • Ability to motivate and build relationships

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday – Sunday (Rota Basis)

  • 08:00 – 20:00 (broken into shift patterns)
