Job description

We are partnering with an award winning Housing Association based in East London, in the search for an interim Senior Finance Officer (Rent & Service Charges) on a four month ongoing contract.

The position is due to start immediately on a full time basis and offers hybrid working with fully flexible start and finish times.

The ideal candidate will have experience of rent and service charge accounting and preparation of month end journals, as well as experience working within the Social Housing sector.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Act as the main point of contact for leasehold residents with service charge queries and disputes, liaising with them over the phone and via email

  • Calculate, produce and process tenant, leasehold & commercial service charges budgets, estimates and actuals for current properties and new developments

  • Ensure accurate rent and service charge setting, and completing the annual review process

  • Prepare and post month end journals, and work with the Rent & Service Charge Accountant to prepare accurate financial statement

  • Carry out daily and weekly bank reconciliations, and responsible for supporting the reconciliation of service charge accounts

  • Responsible for providing regular and accurate performance information to the business on service charges

Experience required:

  • Rent and service charge setting

  • Service charge accounting

  • Preparation of month end journals

  • Experience working for a Housing Association or Not-For-Profit organization

  • Use of the Orchard system

  • Highly numerate with intermediate/advanced excel skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting concepts

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday with flexible working hours
