Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Housing Association who provide housing, support and other community related services to a range of customers. They are looking to appoint a Regional Housing Officer on a 4-month temporary contract.

This will be a full-time position based in Oxfordshire, with hybrid working to fit business need and is offering an hourly rate of up to £26.00 per hour via an Umbrella Company.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of housing management and providing advice to a range of customers. They will also have access to their own vehicle and an Enhanced DBS dated in the last 3 years.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Inspecting voids in order to arrange for repairs and decorations for re-letting in line with voids procedure

  • Seeking referrals from support providers, local Councils and other referring agencies to re-let voids

  • Liaising with support providers or other partners to select new tenants and set up and manage tenant records

  • Conducting viewings and sign-ups for new tenancies in line with procedures and ensuring residents have signed an appropriate occupancy agreement

  • Monitoring rents and arrears on at least a fortnightly basis and taking action to recover rent arrears including serving notices and attending court

  • Responding to anti‐social behaviour complaints and neighbourly disputes in line with procedures and providing advice as required

  • Ensuring all tenancy and housing related records are properly maintained and recorded on the systems

  • Carrying out visits to ensure compliance with tenancy conditions

  • Liaising with external professionals in respect of customers’ changing needs including support provider input

  • Ensuring that customers are able to make successful claims for welfare benefits by providing appropriate advice

  • Processing mutual exchange requests and undertaking initial assessments

Experience required:

  • Up to date working knowledge of Housing Legislation

  • Experience and understanding of Court processes and attendance for ASB and Rent Arrears cases

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Able to build excellent relationships with customers and colleagues

  • Writing clear and detailed reports on complex subjects

  • Strong working knowledge of the Open Housing system
