Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Governing Body based in Manchester, who are recruiting for a Project Accounting and Contract Officer on a temporary to permanent contract.

The client ideally would like someone to start in September and the role will require travel to the office two days per week. The salary on offer is £32,400.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, organised finance professional with excellent attention to detail as well as strong communication and relationship building skills. They will also have a background in project accounting or contract administration with demonstrable accounting and credit control experience.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing the sales and purchase contracting process (billing and invoicing), including preparation of financial data for proposals, contract review, and sign off and resolution of contract queries

  • Preparing, tracking and processing sales and purchase orders, invoices and expenses, ensuring accurate and robust records are maintained

  • Tracking project income and costs against budgets and forecasts

  • Monitoring and reporting variations and providing financial data for project change requests

  • Collaborating with project managers to develop detailed project budgets and forecasts

  • Developing periodic income and cost forecasts and supporting scenario planning and financial modelling for project proposals

  • Developing effective relationships with local authorities, suppliers and the internal project team whilst promoting the project products and services 

Experience required:

  • Background in project accounting or contract administration with demonstrable accounting and credit control experience

  • Confident with invoicing, sales and purchase order reconciliation and budget tracking

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, working collaboratively and seamlessly in cross-functional teams

  • Ability to develop effective relationships across multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • 37 hours per week
