Job description

We are proud to be working in partnership with an esteemed nationwide education provider, who is currently recruiting for a HR Advisor based in Suffolk(remote working), on a 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity. The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis, with the salary ranging from £36,000 – £42,000.

The ideal candidate will have an education background, able to show initiative, a willingness to learn and be a hard worker with a great sense of humour.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Acting as the first point of contact for information and advice to teaching and support staff on employee relations, policies, recruitment, contracts and payroll queries

  • Providing guidance on a wide range of people matters, with reference to company policies, escalating issues to the Senior HR Business Partner when a process reaches the formal stage or where the issue is complex

  • Using and applying knowledge of employment legislation and law, to support senior members of staff on issues such as disciplinary, grievances, absence management and maternity

  • Promoting effective recruitment and selection practices, advertise roles on the company website and provide guidance on eligibility to work, pre-employment checks, right to work and pre-employment medical checks

  • Supporting the Senior HR Business Partner in providing advice on staffing structures, change programmes, restructures and redundancies

  • Collating date and HR reports as required to assist with issues like gender pay gap, pay progression and Freedom of Information requests

Experience required:

  • Education – Burgundy and Green Books (essential)

  • CIPD Qualified Level 5 or equivalent (desirable)

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Able to evidence a proven track record in a previous employee relations role

  • An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing

Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Monday - Friday 9am-5:30pm
