Job description

​We are currently working with a Local Government body based in Surrey who are looking for a Housing Lawyer on a temporary contract lasting up to six months.

The role is a full-time position, and is due to start as soon as possible. The hourly rate is negotiable depending upon experience.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Dealing with conduct of disrepair claims, including preparing advice on liability and quantum, and assessing Bill of Costs from tenant’s Solicitors

  • Taking instructions on Part 36 offers and settlement negotiations

  • Preparing injunction applications and filing them at Court

  • Drafting witness statements and defence

  • Advising on tenancy agreements, s204 homelessness appeals in the County Court, and defending judicial review threats and disrepair counterclaims

  • Consulting on best practice in accordance with policy, and assisting clients to formulate a disrepair protocol

  • Conducting own legal research, briefing Counsel as required, and providing guidance on advocacy appeals

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday
