Job description

We are currently partnering with a leading higher education institution based in Hertfordshire, who are recruiting for an Employee Relations Advisor to join their growing team on a temporary basis (4 months).

This is a full-time position with a negotiable rate (subject to experience) and the start date is the week commencing the 29th of April.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working under the discretion of the ER Manger providing professional advice and guidance to managers on the full range of ER cases

  • Supporting the ER Manager in the management of more complex ER cases, change management processes, e.g. arrange meetings, take minutes, draft investigation reports, deal with appropriate follow-ups

  • Supporting managers in identifying constructive and business focuses solutions to difficult people issues using the insitutions Management Toolkit

  • Assisting with researching and developing the RVC’s employment policy framework as required by the Employee Relations Manager and Deputy Director of HR

  • Supporting the HR team by helping to promote awareness of Care First, which is an Employees Assistance Programme that provides a confidential advice and counselling service

Experience required:

  • Experience in dealing and managing with ER cases

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Experience of providing accurate and relevant employee relations advice and case management on a range of ER issues

  • Knowledge of current employment law and applying best practice

  • Intermediate level in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Ability to work on own initiative and without close supervision

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
