Job description

Our client, a local authority based in East-Sussex, is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor

on a permanent basis for £42,264 per annum and the position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis.

The ideal candidate will have experience of managing a caseload and experience of designing and planning major adaptions to domestic buildings.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Inspecting and surveying client’s homes providing a technical assessment and advice regarding repairs and improvements

  • Preparing drawings using CAD, schedules of works or schedule of rates and specifications as required for building control, Planning Authorities and invitations to tender for grant approval to agreed timescales

  • Managing the technical workload from initial inspection to completion, to meet performance targets set by Local Authorities, Operations Manager (internally) and any other stake holders or partners

  • Holding regular case review meetings with the relevant Grants Officers and Occupational Therapists and to use contacts with these and other outside bodies to resolve technical problems

  • Working with the team to develop a customer orientated culture, ensuring that audit checks are made on a selection of actions initiated to conform the client has received a satisfactory service

Experience required:

  • Experience of managing a caseloads

  • Minimum two years’ experience within the sector etc.

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Repair and maintenance advice

  • Knowledge of up-to-date grants and loans available for clients

  • Understanding the needs of our client group and the benefit of a flexible, outcome focused and personalized support service

  • Knowledge of related services provided by the statutory and voluntary sector

  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues

  • Understanding of the need to collect data and the benefits for the service

  • Knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion as they relate to the service

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week

  • Monday - Friday 9am-5pm
