Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a London based local authority, who are recruiting for a Assistant Director of Property Services on a permanent basis. The position is due to start immediately and the salary on offer is between £89,916 - £104,649 dependent upon experience.

The ideal candidate will have detailed knowledge and understanding of property, development, and investment and also be able to provide expert advice across a range of property and development matters in a local government context.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Form strategic alliances and develop productive relationships between the Council and other public and private sector investors, developers, and stakeholders to support delivery of the council’s priorities
  • Manage staff where appropriate to support the effective development, delivery, and evaluation of regeneration projects
  • Responsible for ensuring all and any works carried out by internal teams, external teams, or contractors, meet in full, all the prevailing regulations
  • To have overall responsibility for statutory compliance and the management of the maintenance & engineering, performance and business support, facilities managers, and cleaning teams
  • Responsible for creating the department service improvements plans and looks for opportunities to continuously improve own performance
  • Create the strategy for monitoring and managing the condition, compliance, suitability, and performance of building assets, identifying when capital works will be needed

Experience required:

  • Experience and in depth understanding of diverse facilities management
  • Experience of the preparing analysis, advice and strategies and delivering at senior level
  • Proven experience in the writing of policies and procedures and developing innovative and creative solutions

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Strong leadership and staff management skills including recruitment, selection and induction, team development, performance appraisal and management, mentoring and coaching
  • Detailed knowledge of legislative framework and good practice for health and safety and compliance
  • Ability to manage health and safety and compliance within a challenging and political environment
