Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a public sector organistation, based in the East of England, who are looking to appoint an Asset Surveyor on a 5-month temporary basis. This will be a full-time position covering the East of England, with a rate of up to £300 a day via an umbrella company.

The ideal candidate will have experience of various surveys (damp, mould, stock condition and H&S surveys) within a housing association.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Carrying out thorough damp and mould surveys, identifying underlying issues, diagnosing causes, and specifying appropriate remedial actions

  • Conducting comprehensive stock condition surveys to assess component lifecycles and ensure compliance with the Decent Homes Standard

  • Undertaking routine and ad hoc health & safety inspections, including fire safety checks, asbestos monitoring, and HHSRS risk assessments

  • Inspecting adapted and accessible properties, ensuring existing adaptations are fit for purpose and advising on further modifications to support residents with specific needs

  • Providing detailed reports and recommendations to inform planned maintenance programmes, capital works, and long-term asset strategies

  • Collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and external specialists to resolve issues and ensure the delivery of high-quality, compliant services

  • Ensuring all survey and inspection work complies with relevant legislation and sector best practice, including Building Regulations and Health & Safety at Work Act

  • Supporting the disrepair, legal, and insurance teams with technical advice and evidence relating to property condition and maintenance history

Expertise required:

  • Experience of surveying within social housing

  • Access to a vehicle

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday

  • 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm
