Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a multi-disciplinary consultancy based in West London, who are recruiting for a Principal Designer on a permanent basis. The position is due to start immediately. The salary for this role is up to £70,000 for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate must have prior experience working within a similar multi-disciplinary consultancy as a Principal Designer. This candidate is expected to lead this new team so previous management experience is also necessary.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Fulfilling the duties of the Principal Designer as defined under CDM 2015 including where necessary carrying out the role of CDM-Advisor to support the client

  • Ensuring multiple team members and duty holders such as the client, designers, contractors and other internal multidisciplinary team members coordinate and cooperate with each other and check that relevant duties are complied with

  • Planning, managing, monitoring and coordinating pre-construction phases of projects to identify, eliminate, or control significant and foreseeable risks

  • Working with the client to gather preconstruction information, assess the adequacy, identify gaps and provide advice on how they might be filled and distribute to those that need it

Experience required:

  • Worked within a multi-disciplinary surveying consultancy

  • Ideally are an incorporated member of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPs)

  • Experience managing a team

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of CDM 2015 and appropriate legislation

  • Good communicator with interpersonal and organisational skills

  • Have full and clean driver’s license
