Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Council based in Warwickshire, who are recruiting for a Homeless Reviews Officer on a temporary six-month contract. The position is due to start immediately, and the role is full time. The hourly rate of pay is £28.00 via an Umbrella company.

The ideal candidate will have used the Abrtias system previously – though this is desirable not essential! You will need to have an Enhanced DBS certificate within the last 12 months, or be happy to have one carried out. The client is also looking for someone with a good understanding of Section 202 and proven experience of Homeless Reviews.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a caseload or reviews and making section 2020 decisions

  • Drafting accurate letters ensuring that they could stand up to scrutiny in court

  • Maintaining homelessness paperwork, records and statistics

  • Staying up to date with changes in the homelessness legislation

  • Providing training and feedback to homeless officers

  • Preventing homelessness wherever possible using pro-active resources available including online resources

  • Conducting interviews with individuals and families who were homeless or threatened with homelessness

  • Negotiating and liaising with Landlords, Estate Agents and Private Sector organisations

Experience required:

  • Experience working in a similar role within a Local Authority

  • Experience carrying out section 202 reviews

  • Drafting accurate letters for court

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Enhanced DBS within the last three years

  • Up to date knowledge in changes to the homelessness legislation

  • Hardworking and passionate individual

  • Confident user of Abritas
